Saturday: Wine from Massaya, Lebanon
January 20, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Come on in this Saturday and take yourself on a trip to the Ancient World of wine. We’ll be showcasing the wines of Massaya, from the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon.
Massaya is a family winery, run by the Ghosn brothers. Sami Ghosn rescued his family’s estate in Bekaa from squatters, began making Arak from Obeidi (native white grape), replanted vineyards in 1995 and convinced Dominque Hebrard of Cheval Blanc (St. Émilion, Bdx) and the Brunier family of Vieux Telegraphé (Châteauneuf-du-Pape) to invest in his winery with both technological advice and help.
Check out this interview by the Huffington Post with Sami Ghosn for intimate details and background on both the winery and Lebanese wine.
