Kimchi House is NOT cash-only. They accept credit cards.
They do indeed accept credit cards, in fact I think they prefer it.
It’s a tasty reasonably priced place. They have poor beer/wine choices so it’s better for take-out. Which is too bad, it’s actually a cozy little spot, would like to eat there.
Regarding adult beverages:
For a while, Kimchi House’s alcohol license was in flux. Their license was for beer and wine only, no actual liquor/spirits. The Liquor Control Board fined them for selling shochu and sake, which are apparently licensed as spirits and not wine (even though most of it is on par with the ABV of wine, especially the flavored sakes, which are more wine cooler than anything else). The whole situation seemed pretty ridiculous; the highest ABV for sake is around 20%. Although, some shochu can get up to 30%, so maybe that did it. Anyway, it’s a bummer, because they had a rather good selection before things came to a head.
Kimchi House stopped selling sake and shochu. However, they now have a selection of beer and wine, nothing too fancy though.
Certainly, take-out is a great option (my girlfriend and I do so at least twice a month), but I highly recommend dining in. They offer free, house-brewed green tea, utensils to suit every need, and a couple of hot sauces/chili sauces (their house-made chili sauce is exceptional). Plus, some of their dishes, like the Seafood Pancake, area really best served immediately, and don’t hold up as well when taken out.
