Snow, ice on cold Sunday morning

Posted by Geeky Swedes on December 14th, 2008

Most of Ballard woke up to a winter landscape this morning.

Despite the 28 degree temps, traffic is moving smoothly on the main roads around Ballard, including 65th St. and Market St. climbing Phinney Ridge.

Here on 70th, though, it’s a little tricky. This SUV crept down Phinney Ridge, navigating icy conditions. Probably a good idea to avoid the steep side streets.

While parts of East Ballard and Crown Hill were covered with an inch of snow, only small patches were visible in central Ballard.

Right on schedule, bundled-up vendors at the Farmers Market geared up for a beautiful day of shopping. It may not even reach 30 degrees today.

Snow draped on Christmas Trees at the Boy Scout lot near Ballard Market. Forecasters say we could still get a few snow showers this morning, and the week is shaping up to be one of the coldest on record. If you have some snow or ice photos, please email ‘em to us, and we’ll post a few here on My Ballard.

Agreed, gooner - I didn't even leave the house Sunday. Much respect to the vendors at the Farmer's Market.

went to the BALLARD FARMERS MARKET right at 10am this morning. it was frrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing. was really looking forward to the hot apple cider specifically but the vendor didn't make it, well at least before we left. I salute those vendors for sitting out there in that weather. it is one thing to walk in 30 degrees, but it is totally different to just sit there in it.

Actually you're both right. I referenced the farmer's market twice. Fixed.

As far as snow days, it looks like the kids will be happy on Wednesday.

    Cathy:
see how the captions belong to the photos *above* them?
I believe the mix up is on your end
understandable considering the weather and all.
    :-)

See that grocery store sign there? The one that says "Ballard Market?" That's the Ballard Market. The Farmer's Market is the one on Ballard Ave.

This isn't the first time you've mixed these up...

Other than that, the pictures are nice. The kids are just disappointed that this didn't happen Sunday night instead of Saturday night.
