Vikings Robotics Team to compete this weekend

Posted by Geeky Swedes on March 27th, 2009

The Viking Robotics Team is taking part in a robotics competition this weekend at Key Arena with their robot named Thor. The Ballard High students will be up against 53 other teams from around the country and the world.

The BHS team is made up of Freshmen and Sophomores who are interested in engineering and technology. According to the team’s profile and business plan, their robot will, “Collect Moon rock pieces from the arena field into the robot hopper, transport the rocks to one of our robot alliance’s fueling stations, where our payload specialist will manually throw them into the opposing alliance’s robot trailers scoring points for our alliance.”

They believe they have a chance at winning several awards including the Chrysler Team Spirit award, the Highest Rookie Seed award, and with their simple design they hope to bring home the Delphi “Driving Tomorrow’s Technology” award. The event is free and open to the public.

I agree w/ Larsen. Geeky and cool are hard to achieve simultaneously. My high school had a rocket club, but there was nothing cool about that...just geeky.

Best of luck to you guys. Go Ballard! (and Magnolia / Queen Anne, etc.)
