Golden Beetle wants an outdoor cafe

Another business on Market Street wants outdoor seating.

Golden Beetle (1744 NW Market) has applied for a sidewalk cafe permit. Comments regarding the sidewalk café application will be accepted thru May 26, 2011. Comments should be submitted via email to annualpermits@seattle.gov. The former tenant in this space, Via Verde, also had outdoor seating.

  1. @f90e89721848edaecb784e6103559657:disqus  yes – Golden Beetle is good. I went with a couple friends and I think we ordered every other item on the menu. It was fun to try all the unique dishes – some  I liked more than others.
@facebook-531229342:disqus I’m beginning to suspect that the outdoor seating craze is being driven by the manufacturer of those outdoor propane heaters. Conspiracy?

  2.  There’s a previously-unknown link between Ballard and climate.  The more sidewalk cafes, the colder the climate gets; note that temps haven’t really gone up during the last decade, the decade that has seen the explosion of sidewalk seating in Ballard. As further proof*, it looks like the North Cascades Highway could see its latest opening date ever because of all the snow this year. Finally, anyone who has already planted their tomatoes is way too early this year.

    * – perhaps I should have added quotes to “proof” :)
