Despite what some are hearing, Zak’s Burgers (2040 NW Market St) is not closing. The highest-rated burger joint in Ballard is on the market and owner Larry Johnson says they have an interested buyer.

Johnson opened Zak’s six years ago and is now looking to retire very soon. He says they have an active buyer and hopes to pass the baton at some point next month. He says that if the sale falls through, he’ll re-market the place. He tells us that the buyer he’s talking to is buying Zak’s – the name, the decor, the recipes – and plans to keep it as Zak’s.
