BHS fall concert series begins this week

The Ballard High School’s Performing Arts program is about to kick off their fall concert series with three nights of music from their choir, band, and orchestra.

On Wednesday, October 25, at 7:30pm is the Choir Concert. “Featuring Songs of Inspiration including South African freedom songs, community folk songs from Macedonia and Appalachia, and music from the American spiritual, jazz, pop, and contemporary choral repertoire. Vocal Jazz, Advanced Chorale, Concert Choir, Treble Choir, Men’s Ensemble, and Women’s Chamber Choir will perform.”

The Orchestra Concert is on Thursday, November 2, at 7:30 p.m. “Highlights include Anton Arensky’s Variations on a Theme by Tchaikovsky, Holberg Suite by Edvard Grieg. Mozart’s Symphony 25 and Danse Macabre, by Saint-Saëns. The Chamber Orchestra and Symphonic Orchestra will perform.”

The Band Concert will be Wednesday, November 8, 7:30 p.m. “Highlights include Gustav Holst’s First Suite in E-flat, and Jazz Band I performing the classics Basie Straight Ahead and A Night in Tunisia. The concert will showcase 175 band students in Symphonic Band, the audition-level Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Bands I and II.”

All performances begin at 7:30pm and will be at the Earl Kelly Center for Performing Arts at Ballard High School (1418 NW 65th St).
