Pizzeria (and music) coming to 32nd Ave.

My Ballard reader T.M. writes us to say that the empty space along 32nd between 64th and 65th — across from Rain City Video — will become “Pizzeria Picolinos,” according to a liquor license notice distributed to neighbors. We wrote a few weeks ago that we admired the big new deck going in behind the establishment (photo below), and Ballardite Blog says he spoke to someone there who said an “upscale” pizzeria and a bar are moving into the building. “I would be fine with it,” writes T.M., who’s a neighbor, “but they plan to offer ‘live music’ with an amp every night they’re open.” L&K clarifies in comments, “The owner explained that the ‘live music’ will be indoors, on weekends, holidays and special events. Most likely piano, violin or soft vocal… music appropriate for a family restaurant and dining patrons.”

Update: If you haven’t seen it already, there’s quite the discussion in comments about the former tenants — Regnor’s Pottery, Lily and the People, Sunset Hill Hair Design and now Ed Wetzel Piano — and the changes on the block. Here’s a column from last year in the Seattle PI that provides some background. (Thanks Micke for the link.)
