As many as a hundred people gathered to remember Kevin Black Thursday night. Black was killed yesterday just south of the intersection of 65th & 24th, where a memorial has been growing since the accident.
Not everyone knew Kevin, and some new him intimately. We arrived just after 5:30 p.m. when a small group of people, adults and children, stood with their arms around each other praying.
At the end of the prayer the kids yelled, “Number one dad!” and then took their notes of memories to the pole that now holds many remembrances.
Some onlookers wiped tears from their eyes, some stared into the distance lost in thought, others told stories of Kevin and laughed at each other’s stories. A tremendous outpouring of support for a Ballard man loved by many.
