Beautiful pictures of Ballard’s Osprey family

The family of Osprey nesting on the railway bridge just west of the Ballard Locks are spreading their wings.

Photographer Cecil Tyler gave us permission to post the photos and says I “hope it promotes the thought of preserving the nest for future generations of osprey and the enjoyment it brings to anyone who will take the time to look up.”

Shannon Down originally sent us these pictures and has been watching them since they started building their next this past spring. “I’m enjoying watching them and feel a part of their lives,” she says.

“I do not want BNSF to tear the nest down like last winter as next year the birds might just not bother to rebuild,” Tyler says.

Thank you Shannon and Cecil for sharing these photos!
