Romanza Gifts plans to reopen in same location

Update: Yesterday, we reported that Romanza Gifts would be closing its location on NW Market St due to financial reasons. However, the owners have informed us that they have renegotiated the lease with the landlords, and will be reopening in a few months with a “smaller lease” after remodeling.

From co-owner John Sterlin:

We will still be closed for a time but it will be a few weeks for construction and no move will be required!  Look for us to hold a grand reopening sometime in August.  Tentative closing date will be July 27th.   The “closing sale” will continue since we must liquidate huge amounts of current inventory to be able to fit in our new shop.
We are sincerely happy and grateful to remain in our current location.  Kudos to our landlord for working with us!

Original story: After 13 years of business, Romanza Gifts and Home Decor (2206 NW Market St) is closing. The owners write that the closing is necessary, “due to the economic climate, rising expenses, and diminished sales.”

From Romanza:

…Owners, John Sterlin with his partner, Vince Harris extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the wonderful customers who’ve continued to support Romanza during the past 13 years.

“We are truly honored to be a small part of your lives and a part of this great community. Romanza is down but not out. We are currently seeking relocation to a smaller space or perhaps a re-structuring of our business. Watch for us in the near future,” said John Sterlin, long-time Ballard resident and Owner of Romanza Gifts.

The store will be liquidating inventory as they prepare to close, with everything from products on the shelves to the actual displays for sale. They say they are also closing their location in Walla Walla after six years of business. However, they will continue to operate their e-commerce site, www.RomanzaGifts.com.
