King County Metro Transit’s In Motion program recently updated an incorrect map that was distributed to Ballard and Crown Hill residents. In Motion is a program that encourages residents to drive less and earn rewards from local businesses.
The problem with the map, according to Ballard resident Nancy Chaney, the distances were off by a factor of two. For example, “the materials from Metro indicate that it’s about 1/2 mile from 15th and 65th to 15th and 85th. In reality, it’s 1 mile between these two major intersections,” writes Chaney.
Metro says the contractor who prepared the map and trip estimator, “apologizes for this mistake.” They’ve posted a correct version of the map on their website, and the contractor is mailing a corrected legend to everyone who received the map. Metro says residents who would like to receive a new trip estimator can call 206-296-3455 or email inmotion@kingcounty.gov and the contractor will send a new, correct one.
