Fire in Blue Ridge caused by unattended stovetop burner

A kitchen fire in the Blue Ridge neighborhood near Carkeek Park has been deemed accidental, caused by a stovetop burner left in the “on” position. There were no injuries in the fire, which happened on 105th at 14th Ave NW.

According to Seattle Fire Line, a teapot left on the burner most likely ignited nearby combustibles, causing the fire to spread.

The fire department says the estimated loss was $50,000. “Safety tip: keep stovetop clear and clean. Always check burner before leaving home or going to bed,” the fire department tweeted today.

  1. Ooh, too bad. That is a nice property that borders Carkeek Park. Technically I think that is the very north boundary of Crown Hill. Blue Ridge starts on the other side of NW 105th St next to it.

      1. Or Crown Hill. Def not Blue Ridge. Blue Ridge is on the north of 105th & 14th. Great pic by the firetruck chaser/wolfcrier/facebook panic inducer Brian “Massive fire 14th ave and 105th” Arendt.

  2. This house is 1 house outside Blue Ridge just south of the start of it on the east side of neighborhood. So the article should have read Crown Hill fire as the areas outside Blue Ridge are called Crown Hill . North Beach also borders BR to the SW side. Carkeek Park was nowhere near this fire. Your reports don’t seem to be written or read by people familiar or in touch with Ballard at all. It’s all just faux news

    1. “Nowhere near Carkeek” – You should google maps 105th at 14th Ave NW, Carkeek is down the street.
And yes, this house in in Blue Ridge. 12th is the border.

      1. …or maybe they do, given the amount of downvotes. Strange that it always used to be 5, now it’s always 11. It’s almost like a spambot is out there…
