Wizard-themed pub The Splintered Wand coming to Ballard Ave soon

As we reported last summer, plans are in the works to build a wizard-themed pub at 5135 Ballard Ave NW.

Now we know that the name of the pub will be The Splintered Wand, according to a Washington state liquor license application posting.

The Splintered Wand will be part pub/part wand shop. The wandmakers call themselves Piscataqua & Balch, with a complex and individualized process of creation. Wood for each wand will be determined by the recipient’s date of birth, and are then infused with one of 12 magic essences.

The opening is still a ways off, but we’ll keep you updated when we know more.

  1. This could be fun! With the Skal viking bar (mead hall?) opening up across the street, looks like we have an influx of themed bars on the way. I wonder what wizard themed fare would be, Butterbeer? Gandalf Grog? Wicked Whisky of the West?

      1. elenchos2, or whatever you like to pretend your name is, It must be very sad and ugly in your world. I’m sorry that you are so hurt you feel the need to lash out.

      2. Shoot, since I’m in my 40s and like the theming, I must act like I’m 10 too. I’d rather be young at heart and enjoy life than old and crotchety for sure.

  2. I’m looking forward to this place opening, especially if they do a good job with ‘wizard themed’ cocktails that are unique and different. Bring it!
