Flame-grilled chicken restaurant Galos opens in Ballard

There’s a new chicken spot in the neighborhood: Galos Flame Grilled Chicken opened softly over the weekend at 907 NW Ballard Way across from New Seasons. However, they’re closed now, pending some final inspections, but plan to reopen today or tomorrow.

Ballard is the first location for Galos (Portuguese for rooster) in Seattle — the Canadian owners are expanding slowly around the region, with restaurants on the way for Kirkland, Tacoma, and Bellingham.

Gurpal Aphwal from Galos says their grilled chicken is a Portuguese-South African recipe, with spices, lemon and garlic. They don’t fry anything but potatoes — everything else is flame grilled.

Galos will be a quick-service restaurant — customers order at the counter but will be served at the table.

Aphwal says that pending inspections, they’ll be fully open by Wednesday, with a grand opening scheduled for Friday.

Once they reopen, their hours will be Sunday to Thursday, 11am to 10pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11am to 11pm.

  1. We went to soft open and 1x again this past week for the regular freight and to keep the try – out going… We are super impressed. Good, and clean food – great sauces and variety – salads, greens/veggies options, bowls, and super good sandwiches. I am favoring the bowls (veggie and chicken) and wrap to -date. There are kiddo kebabs. Something for all. Welcome to Galos!
