Standard Goods to open new location in Ballard

The owner of the boutique clothing store Standard Goods on Capitol Hill is gearing up to open a new shop on Ballard Ave.

Standard Goods will fill the space that Scout & Molly’s is vacating, at 5317 Ballard Ave NW.

Jeffrey Gardner opened the Capitol Hill store (701 E Pike St) in 2015, but he’s a Ballard local. He says the decision to open in Ballard was a tough one, because of the high number of retail shops already here.

“But I feel like we’ve gotten to a place where what we do works pretty well, and I feel like we’re different enough to what is already in Ballard,” Gardner tells My Ballard.

Standard Goods aims to represent as many local brands, artists, and craftspeople as possible, curating “unique, compelling products”.

The store sells both men’s and women’s clothing, jewelry, accessories, bags, candles, and gifts, with some novelty items and home goods.

Standard Goods is set to open on November 1st.
