Scandinavian furniture store Sparklebarn to open Feb. 22

The Scandinavian-inspired furniture store Sparklebarn is putting the finishing touches on their new shop in Ballard, which is set to open Feb. 22 with a grand opening party.

Owner Shane Bastian says Sparklebarn specializes in modern mid-century furnishings with a focus on Scandinavian, European, and Pacific Northwest artifacts. He will sell mostly vintage goods, with consignment options and restoration services on personal pieces.

“After about eight years in Fremont and selling online, I had a chance to open this shop in the neighborhood I’ve lived in for the past 20 years,” Bastian told My Ballard. The store will serve as his workshop for renovations and restorations, plus a photo studio and retail space.

“I’m also hoping to host a monthly spotlight for local artisans and artists to feature their work – whether they are painters, sculptors, glass blowers, quilt makers, dog sweater knitters, or anything like that,” Bastian said.

Sparklebarn has relocated to Ballard from their previous location in the Fremont Vintage Mall. Their new shop, located at 2611 NW Market St, is the previous home to Ballard Inflatable Boats.

The grand opening party will be Saturday, Feb. 22 from 5pm to 9pm.

  1. I’m glad there are apparently enough Ole’s and Sven’s around to make this place possible! E2 will take it from here with her rants on European white eccentricity/privilege.

        1. People living in the streets can’t buy condos. They are drug addicts and people with untreated mental illness. Building condos can’t help them. Your hatred and bigotry also can’t help them or anyone.

    2. Ole’s and Sven’s? First off, how can a person be so ignorant as to not be able to pluralize a word or name? I know how, be a conservative who thrives on ignorance, actually worships it. And the content of the post is even less intelligent. It’s as if someone wrote a computer program to mimic a person while always going negative, and ignoring all logic and facts.
