Ballard McDonald’s closed for 8 weeks for renovations

The Ballard McDonald’s on 14th Ave NW closed yesterday for major renovations and updates that will take about two months to complete.

The plans to update the 38-year-old restaurant were announced back in 2018, when a complete rebuild was in the cards. Now, rather than a full rebuild, they’ll be modernizing the aging building as part of their “Experience of the Future” campaign to revamp McDonald’s around the country.

Some of the renovation work includes a new coat of paint, siding, and accent walls. All the menus will be replaced with digital boards, and they’ll install kiosks for quick orders and — get this — table service.

The dining area and restrooms will also get a makeover, and there will be ADA upgrades throughout the restaurant.

McDonald’s will likely be closed until at least May — we’ll provide an update closer to the reopening.

  1. I guess we are receiving a McBreak from them. Most don’t know that back in the day this place used to have outside walk-up windows. When burgers were .25 and Seattle wasn’t under siege.

      1. Would love to stop by your place sometime and take a peek of your trophy cabinet to see all of your beautiful participation medals and trophies…must be a real sight to see!

  2. New paint, siding, order kiosks, table service…all of this stuff sounds very familiar already. How is this going to allow us to ‘experience the future’?

  3. Since the late 70s there have been few months that I haven’t stopped at this MacDonalds. Usually we grab a breakfast and take it to Golden Gardens and watch the waves and maybe check out the beaver’s progress. The folks at the drive through have always been nice and efficient and, so far, never made a mistake. I wish them luck and hope they aren’t inconvenienced by reconstruction.

  4. i love their value menu. you just give them a number and their chefs curate an entire meal for you. entree, side and a drink. It’s the future. get on board now. choo choo!

  5. Word on the street is that it’s going to be a Soros funded all in one safe injection site with a restaurant and kids play area. Thanks Amazon 👍
