The Ballard McDonald’s on 14th Ave NW closed yesterday for major renovations and updates that will take about two months to complete.
The plans to update the 38-year-old restaurant were announced back in 2018, when a complete rebuild was in the cards. Now, rather than a full rebuild, they’ll be modernizing the aging building as part of their “Experience of the Future” campaign to revamp McDonald’s around the country.

Some of the renovation work includes a new coat of paint, siding, and accent walls. All the menus will be replaced with digital boards, and they’ll install kiosks for quick orders and — get this — table service.
The dining area and restrooms will also get a makeover, and there will be ADA upgrades throughout the restaurant.
McDonald’s will likely be closed until at least May — we’ll provide an update closer to the reopening.
