Ballard Market now requiring online sign-ups for shopping

To limit the number of people inside the store, Ballard Market has launched an online queue for shoppers.

As of yesterday, to shop at Ballard Market, you’ll need to go online to Town & Country Markets Ballard website, click the “get in line” button and enter you mobile number. You’ll get a text when it’s your turn to go in, “so you can wait in your car rather than out in the elements,” Town & Country Markets write on their website.

As with most supermarkets, the grocery store has taken other measures to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, including installing plexiglass shields at checkouts, and taping up the floor to keep people six feet apart in line.

Their vulnerable-population shopping hours are also increasing; now the elderly and vulnerable groups can shop from 9am to 11am Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Town & Country Markets is also planning to instate an “appreciation bonus” for staff who work through the pandemic.

  1. I followed their instructions on the website – when I signed up there was no one else waiting in the queue, and it took about 10 minutes of waiting till I got a text saying that I could go in. However in the mean time, everyone else was entering the store as they pleased, and there were no signs or attendees altering people that they need to sign up for their turn. So I don’t get it – seems like they need to commit to do this for everyone going in or not do it at all.

    1. This was actually a psychology experiment to figure out who the lemmings were. You actually waited around and watched other people go in? Some of us would say screw it, and go. I guess you’re either predictor or prey.

        1. Your go… no you go… no you go… no, no, no, you go…. no, I insist….. crickets…. paralysis… tell me what to do!!!!!!
