Two-alarm fire injures six, closes southbound Aurora Bridge

The southbound lanes of Aurora Bridge are closed this morning after a two-alarm fire sent six people to the hospital; three are in critical condition.

The fire started just after 5am this morning on the 2400 block of Aurora Ave N. The fire was under control by about 6:30am and the northbound lanes of Aurora reopened by 7:30am, but the southbound lanes will remain closed from Valley Street to N. 38th Street until the area is cleaned up.

The southbound lanes of the bridge will be open to buses only; drivers should seek alternate routes downtown.

No word yet on the cause of the fire, but we’ll update with any new info.

  1. Sorry to hear folks were injured. That place has always been known by my wife and I as The Branch Davidian House, given its resemblance to the rabbit warren in Waco. For them both to go up in smoke is a disturbing similarity.

    1. Not even pal. This was not in the McNews. That place in Texas burned to the ground. There were NO tanks here. No FBI. No Janet Reno, thank God. You must be a script writer, or author.

  2. I wish the city would eminent domain the west side of that stretch of Aurora and tear all those buildings down. It’s always been like driving through part of Appalachia…run down buildings and rat-traps.

      1. huh? i asked a simple, “non-partisan” question, relax. i’m not kicking anyone, i used to live in a house that had been divided into apartments. just curious.
