Swedish Ballard birth center closes on Monday: here’s what you need to know

The birth center at the Swedish Ballard is closing in a few days, and while deliveries will be moved to First Hill, a number of prenatal and women’s health services will remain.

The birth center officially closes Monday, Aug. 31, and all deliveries previously scheduled for Ballard will be moved to the First Hill campus.

The Ballard campus will still run their obstetric and midwifery outpatient clinics, which will include the following services:

  • Complete range of pre-delivery obstetric services
  • Pre-delivery obstetric care for most low- and high-risk pregnancies
  • Midwifery services
  • Centering pregnancy groups
  • Lactation services
  • Childbirth education

“Our Swedish physicians, midwives, and nurses work as a team to provide patients with seamless care throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum, with immediate access to specialists and the intensive care nursery for babies needing extra support,” Swedish wrote in a letter to patients.
