Ballard High gymnastics team takes 3rd place at state

The Ballard High School gymnastics team has just finished its most successful season to date.

The team went undefeated in the Metro League during their regular season, won the Metro League Championship meet, took 2nd place at Sea-King Disctrict II meet, and came in 3rd at the Washington State Championships.

Head coach Stephanie Gundel tells My Ballard that this year’s team was led by a strong core of freshmen and sophomores, along with BHS senior Lilly Clarke (below). Clarke won the floor event at the Metro League Championship and placed 3rd on both beam and floor at the state meet.

Another key contributor was sophomore Linden Fatland, who took 10th on vault at state, along with fellow sophomores Naomi Kildal (taking 1st place at the beam event in the Metro League) and Alex Bullock, freshmen Brooke and Caitlyn Adkins, and senior Audrey Lepper.

“We’re excited to have a strong core returning next year!” Gundel said.
