NW Market St construction and sidewalk repair starts this week

You may see crews working along the east end of NW Market St starting this week as part of the Route 44 Transit-Plus Multimodal Corridor project.

This week, crews are starting construction at the intersection of NW Market St and 11th Ave NW cutting and demolishing pavement in the street and corners of the intersection and installing storm drainage and conduit. (See below mockup.)

Crews will also be working on sidewalk pavement removal and restoration on NW Market St between 6th and 7th Avenues NW. SDOT says the sidewalk will be closed with detours posted during the work.

SDOT is planning to work their way east up NW Market St demolishing and pouring new concrete at various locations on both sides of the street; the work will be sequenced to ensure pedestrian access remains open. (Sidewalk improvement locations are marked in green on the map below.)

The work should take between two and three months to complete. SDOT says to expect delays during construction.

Along with driving delays, bus routes along NW Market St including Route 44 may be disrupted or delayed. SDOT says some bus stops will be temporarily closed and relocated during the construction.
