A new wine bar, Aluel Cellars, is getting ready to open at 1528 NW Market St.
Co-owner Samuel Hilbert opened the first Aluel Cellars in 2016non Capitol Hill with partner Alex Oh; the name Aluel comes from a combination of their first names. They chose to expand to Ballard for its “fantastic food scene,” Hilbert said, and because it’s “a neighborhood that really celebrates craft alcohol producers.”
“We live less than 10 minutes away from our new location and always noticed that it was hard to find a place to enjoy a great glass of Washington wine in the neighborhood,” Hilbert said. “We are excited to expand the diversity of options in the food and beverage sector by bringing our little winery to Ballard!”
The new tasting room will be much like the Capitol Hill location with flights, glass pours, and light bites. Hilbert said the entire line-up of wines will be available for retail sales at the Ballard location.
To celebrate their expansion into Ballard, Hilbert said they’ll be releasing a special, club-only wine.
Hilbert says they’re aiming to open sometime in July; we’ll keep you posted.
