Seattle Kraken unveils new mascot inspired by the Fremont Troll

Seattle’s pro hockey team the Kraken has announced its new mascot: Its name is Buoy, and it’s a spinoff of the Fremont Troll.

Seattle Kraken introduced Buoy to fans on Saturday when he was lowered from the rafters of Climate Pledge Arena during a game.

Buoy, a blue sea troll with long hair, was inspired by the Fremont Troll under the Aurora Bridge.

“We are proud to introduce Buoy and mark another milestone moment for the Kraken,” Katie Townsend, Kraken chief marketing officer said in a news release. “We are rooted in the local community and everything we do is inspired by the wonderful place we live. Buoy is a big fan of the Seattle music scene.”
