New chicken and rice restaurant Ginger & Scallion moves into former Raiz location on NW 65th St

There’s a new restaurant on NW 65th St: It’s called Ginger & Scallion, and it’s moved into the former Raiz location.

Raiz, which opened in 2019 at 500 NW 65th St, appears to have shuttered quietly in recent weeks. Ginger & Scallion has taken its place; it hosted a soft opening last week.

The owners of Secret Congee are behind Ginger & Scallion, which calls itself a “chicken and rice specialist”—think Hainanese chicken and rice and variations on that theme.

Their signature dish is poached chicken with rice made in a few different ways: Either with a light broth and fresh herbs (“Classic Style”), with rice wine (“Drunken Style”), or its “Curry Style”, which is shredded chicken, house curry sauce, chili oil, and fried shallot.

Ginger & Scallion is open Thursday to Monday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
