Walrus & Carpenter up for another James Beard Foundation award

Ballard’s Walrus & Carpenter is up for yet another James Beard Foundation award.

Walrus & Carpenter is one of the semifinalists for the Oustanding Restaurant category, alongside 19 other restaurants from around the country.

This is the third year in a row Walrus & Carpenter gained nominations in the James Beard Foundation awards: In 2023, chef Renee Erickson was a semifinalist for Outstanding Chef in 2022, Walrus & Carpenter won the Outstanding Restaurant category.

A total of 10 Seattle restaurants are on the semifinalists list:

  • Outstanding Chef: Aaron Verzosa, Archipelago
  • Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program: Eight Row
  • Emerging Chef: Janet Becerra, Pancita
  • Outstanding Restaurateur: Quynh-Vy and Yenvy Pham, Phở Bắc Súp Shop, Phởcific Standard Time, and The Boat
  • Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker: Ben Campbell, Ben’s Bread Co.
  • Best Chef: Northwest and Pacific (AK, HI, OR, WA)
    • Kristi Brown, Communion
    • Grayson Corrales, MariPili Tapas Bar
    • Evan Leichtling, Off Alley
    • Melissa Miranda, Musang

The winners will be announced on April 3.
