Sabine Cafe & Bar at 5307 Ballard Ave is now open for dinner and private events.
Sabine, which opened in 2020, was previously only open for breakfast and lunch. Before Sabine it was Bastille, a French restaurant. The owners pivoted to a counter-service-only model during the pandemic to stay afloat.
Expanding to include dinner service has long been a request of customers, co-owner and general manager Kathryn Meyer said.
“We’re excited to continue the energy into the evenings, with the café open to families, and our lively bar open for upscale drinks and a full dinner menu. There’s a warm feel at night, and we feel fortunate to have the staff and bandwidth to expand our hours,” Meyer said.
Sabine chef Jacob Dunkelberger says the dinner menu is designed around the idea of mezze and grilled meats from the coastal Mediterranean, “encouraging gathering and sharing of food,” he said.
“I learned a lot about the preparation and cuisine while traveling and cooking for friends throughout the area. I feel particularly inspired by the dishes and ingredients of the region, which is heavily reflected in the new evening menu,” Dunkelberger said.
Sabine is now also opening up their back bar for private events for up to 50 guests.
Dinner service is now offered from Tuesday to Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to midnight.
