Pedestrian improvements at 15th Ave NW and NW 83rd St now complete

The project to improve pedestrian safety at 15th Ave NW and NW 83rd St is now complete.

SDOT’s 15th Ave NW at NW 83rd Street Pedestrian Safety Enhancements project has been in the works for years. It was selected way back in 2019 as one of 15 Neighborhood Street Fund projects that year.

The pandemic and other factors delayed the completion of the project, which includes the following improvements:

  • New pedestrian and bike signal
  • Pedestrian refuge island
  • Marked crosswalks on the north and south sides of the intersection
  • Designated crossing for east- and westbound cyclists
  • Restrictions on northbound left-turns onto westbound NW 83rd St for vehicles

Below are photos of before and after at the intersection.
