2nd annual Pride Parade coming to Ballard Farmers Market this Sunday

The Ballard Farmers Market is hosting its annual Pride Parade and Celebration on Sunday, June 9 at the market.

This is the second year that the Ballard Farmers Market is hosting the event—the inaugural Ballard Pride Parade was a slightly smaller affair.

The parade will start at 9:15 a.m. at the corner of NW Market St and 22nd Ave NW. “EVERYONE is invited to join the parade!” the organizers say. “This is an opportunity for all of us to wear our most colorful attire and walk together in honor of love and unity.”

Following the parade will be a drag show at Bergen Place Park at 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. and then LGBTQIA+ performances throughout the market day (ending at 2 p.m.).

The Drag Showcase is hosted by Sasha Scarlett. The market organizers say it will be family-friendly and include prize giveaways.

The following special guests will be at the parade and celebration:

The organizers say there won’t be space for people come and set up chairs to watch because it goes straight through the market. Instead of sitting to watch, they encourage everyone to join in on the parade.
