The tapas restaurant Kahlo & Loyal at 5608 17th Ave NW has closed after just five months open in Ballard.
Owner Sheldon Raju told My Ballard that he’s moving the restaurant to Napa. “An investor has showed interest in us and thinks we’ll do great on that side so I decided to take the chance and opportunity,” Raju said.
Raju also posted in the My Ballard Group on Facebook saying, “We really are gonna miss Ballard but excited about the next chapter for us. Thank you for everyone who supported us, offered advice and friendship or simply just to pop in, we appreciate you guys so much and hope to see you in a warmer climate soon and always will have a special table for Ballard.”
Kahlo & Loyal opened in May in the former Little Prague Bakery, which closed in closed in October 2024 after two years in the space.
The location has had several different identities in recent years. Before Little Prague, it was home to the Corner Spot, which was open for three years. And before that, it was the Crooked Nail Pub, which closed its doors in 2018.
No news yet on what will move in next, but we’ll keep you updated.
