Nordic Jul carols coming to National Nordic Museum

The National Nordic Museum is bringing some festive cheer this week with a concert of Nordic carols.

Choral Arts NW will perform Nordic Jul, a concert of Nordic holiday carols, at the museum on Thursday, December 18, at 7 p.m.

Nordic Jul will include Norwegian fiddling and Yuletide songs, one of several concerts Choral Arts NW is putting on in Seattle for the holiday season. There will be “luminous choral music, sparkling fiddling, and cherished carols from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland,” according to the event info.

“Immerse yourself in the rich musical traditions of the Nordic lands, where sacred and secular melodies intertwine in songs of winter and Yuletide celebration. Experience the haunting beauty of Björk’s Aurora, the spirit of friendship with Auld Lang Syne, and captivating Norwegian Hardanger fiddling performed by acclaimed local violinist Rachel Nesvig,” Choral Arts NW states on their site.

Viewing the concert is free with admission to the museum.

If you can’t make it on Thursday, Choral Arts NW will also perform Nordic Jul at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ballard on Saturday, December 20, at 7:30 p.m. They’re also performing at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral (1245 Tenth Avenue East) on Dec. 21.
