A new cat-only boarding hotel called Whiskers Lodge (4250 Aurora Ave N) will soon open in Fremont.
Owner Kip Brookbank is opening Whiskers Lodge after a decade working at Amazon, Microsoft, and Xbox. He and his husband, John Hall, are running the lodge together. “We wanted to invest locally and build something hands-on and community-focused,” Brookbank told My Ballard.

Brookbank and Hall have cared for and boarded cats for over 17 years in Woodinville.
“As far as we can tell, it’s one of the first modern cat-exclusive boarding spaces of its kind in Seattle,” Brookbank said.

Along with boarding, Brookbank says the Whiskers Lodge will have Seattle’s first indoor cat playground, which will be used daily by boarding guests and be available to rent for private play sessions and small community events.

They’re still working on building out the space, but expect to be open in the next couple of months. For now, they’re pre-booking stays that will start April 6.
