Another mural is in the works for Ballard: An artist is being sought to design and paint a new 450-square-foot mural on a building along NW Market St.
Hjarta Condominiums is accepting applications for the mural project on the west side of its building at 1530 NW Market St. Artists have until Aug. 31 to apply.
According to the Ballard Alliance, the mural will cover a 30-foot-wide by 15-foot-high wall and should feature artwork that is relevant to the Ballard neighborhood. Creative ideas and interpretations are welcome.
The selected artist will receive a $3,425 project budget, which includes the cost of materials. The artist will work with the property owners on the design concept and must be able to demonstrate the ability to paint a large-scale mural.
Applications should include the artist’s name and contact information, examples of previous murals or artwork, and a short statement explaining why they would be a good fit for the project. Artists can also share preliminary ideas for the mural.
Applications should be emailed to Wren Wilson at Wren@BallardAlliance.com by Aug. 31. Artists will be notified of the results by Sept. 11.
The painting schedule will depend on the design process and weather, with organizers aiming to have the mural completed by mid-October.
The latest Ballard mural project happened earlier this year, when the Ballard Brewery District gained several new murals as part of the Brewery District Mural Week.
