4Bs Ballard Grill & Alehouse to reopen under new ownership in December

The 4Bs Ballard Grill & Alehouse is about to be transformed into the 4Bs Tavern under new ownership.

Joel Stedman from The Stedman Group recently acquired the 4Bs, located at 4300 Leary Way NW. The Stedman Group owns and operates six other bars/restaurants around Seattle, including the Magnolia Village Pub and Targy’s Tavern in Queen Anne.

Stedman told My Ballard he’s been wanting to open a new place for some time and jumped on the opportunity to buy 4Bs and remake and modernize the old dive. He says that the 4Bs Tavern will have a similar vibe to his other locations: “fun, neighborhood blue-collar places.”

The tavern will be heavily spruced up and cleaned out, Stedman says, which will include a new coat of paint, cleaning out all the old tap lines, replacing some furniture, and adding a few more TVs. The pool tables and games will stay, maintaining a sports bar feel to the place.

They’ll feature local beers, “because we all know how good Ballard’s beer scene is,” Stedman said.

The food program is still being sorted out, but there’s potential for a full-scale pub menu, Stedman says. Some of the 4Bs staff will remain for reopening, and he expects there will be a few new faces behind the bar as well.

4Bs Tavern will be 21+ and is set to open in mid-December.
