The weekend events calendar

It’s a big weekend in Ballard. We’ll be at the Seafood Fest with 60,000 others (see below), and temperatures are expected to push 90 degrees on Sunday.

  • This weekend is the 35th Annual Seafood Fest in Central Ballard. Be sure to come say hi to us on Saturday. We’ll be hanging out at the Sip & Ship booth from noon to 1 p.m. before heading over to the lutefisk and hot dog eating contests. See the full schedule of events here.
  • The Ballard Sidewalk Sale continues through the weekend.
  • Saturday is the third annual Crown Hill neighborhood garage sale. A map of participating homes can be found here.
  • The Greater Seattle Fuschia show is Saturday at the Locks from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Learn about the Cedar River salmon migration on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers will be at the Ballard Locks talking about the epic journey that takes place every year as salmon swim from the ocean, through the Locks, into Lake Washington, and on up the river to spawn. Afterwards, help raise money for the salmon at the “Drink Like a Fish” event at BalMar. A $10 donation gets you a free pint and happy hour prices from 5 p.m. to close.
  • The Fidgety Feet-Dixie Land Band performs at the Locks from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The West Seattle Big Band plays on Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m.
  • For more live music, check out the calendars for the Tractor Tavern, Sunset Tavern, The Bit Saloon, High Dive, Conor Byrne, Egan’s Ballard Jam House and Nectar. As always, check out our events calendar. And if you have an event to add, just email us at tips@myballard.com.

    1. Lots of Ballard sponsored Chamber of Commerce events this weekend. Remember to ask the vendors and local retailers if they are Chamber members and if they really are onboard with the Ballard Chamber's mission of trying to shut down completion of the Burke Gilman Trail. They are part of a suit that will cost you the taxpayers thousands upon thousands of dollars all the while more bicyclists and pedestrians will be injured, as completion of the path is delayed. Ask your local business that you support if they should continue to support the Chamber's mission. You may even choose to boycott members of your local Chamber.

    2. Thanks for your thoughts John, helping out your community is a great time, very rewarding. I plan on having a great weekend and I hope you have a great one as well.

    3. I choose your alternative John. My god you poor folks overwrought cyclists; it must really suck to be you. I hope someday you learn to enjoy life.

    4. p.s. I rode my bike to work in Bellevue every day this week and loved every minute of it. I'm gonna rest up tonight and hit the fest tomorrow. It's gonna be great.
