Cupcake Camp comes to Ballard

It’s all things cupcake this Sunday at the second annual Cupcake Camp Seattle to raise money for Hope Heart Institute.

“Cupcake Camp Seattle is an event for cupcake lovers,” Carrie Middlemiss of Bella Cupcake Couture tells us. “We invited people who love to bake and those who love to eat cupcakes to come together in one place for a great cause.”

There will be cupcake tastings from 14 different cupcake shops and home bakers, cupcake eating contests, cupcake wrapper decorating for kids, bakers competitions and more. “Attendees will come to taste and shop all things cupcake. They can also swap cupcake ideas, talk about different types of cupcakes they like or meet some of the fabulous cupcake shop owners,” says Middlemiss.

Cupcake Camps originated in San Francisco, but just came to Seattle last year. “I created the event as a celebration for my first year in business as Bella Cupcake Couture,” Middlemiss says. “I thought it would be a fun way to bring the cupcake community together for a great cause. I just never realized how huge the cupcake community is. We had nearly 1,000 people show up last year.”

Tickets are $8 in advance (available here) which gets you six mini cupcake tastings or $10 at the door for three regular-sized cupcakes.. All proceeds go to the Hope Heart Institute. The event is this Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at The Canal (5300 34th Ave NW.) (Thanks Heather for the tip!)

  1. I swung into an unmentioned Pie shop the other day in Seattle. I payed over $8 for something that was so NOT a pie. It was tasty, but definently not a pie…..LOL…And NOT $8 worthy either.
