$30k raised in two days for victim of Ballard assault

The fundraiser to help support the 20-year-old man who was attacked last Saturday has collected over $31,000 in just two days.

Moses Brudnyy was brutally attacked outside of Ballard Market on Aug. 1 while on his way to work. His QFC supervisor Katrina Surdyk started the GoFundMe fundraiser, saying he’s “one of the good ones”.

“He’s overwhelmed and is very emotional,” his mother, Oksana Peters tells My Ballard. “Yesterday was the first time he saw the GoFundMe and he began to cry.” She says she’s doing okay and recovering well since returning home from the hospital.

“Moses is extremely grateful. He wants Ballard people to know that they are the most caring people in the world,” Peters says.

According to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the man who attacked Brudnyy is Solomon Wilson Prince. He has been charged with one count of second-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree assault.

Prince’s arraignment, where he’s expected to enter a plea, is scheduled for 8:30am on Aug. 19. Prince has no known criminal history.
