5-story apartment building proposed for old Crown Hill Hardware property

The corner that was once home to Crown Hill Hardware could turn into a 5-story apartment building.

Crown Hill Hardware closed in late 2017, and since then, development plans have evolved: previously, the project included two side-by-side 4-story, 21-unit buildings. Now, the plan is for one 5-story building, with 60 small efficiency dwelling units at 7755 15th Ave NW. Parking for two vehicles is proposed.

Written comments on the project may be submitted through Aut. 24 by emailing PRC@seattle.gov or regular mail to: City of Seattle – SDCI –

We haven’t seen design plans for this one, but when we learn more we’ll update.

    1. Please define “well used” for us. The only thing I truly see being “well used” are 99% of Seattle residents. Packing in another kabillion without proper infrastructure is just plain dumb. Been hit twice at that ancient intersection. This and so many others are death by 1,000 cuts. But hey, somebody will soon be able to watch their neighbors poop and will be able to borrow a cup f sugar by simply reaching over the railing. You have then arrived!

  1. Is this for the drug addicts, I mean the homeless like me? Can I cook meth in these dwellings?
    Defund the police!
More drugs! Free shoplifting! Yay Seattle activists! Thank you, thank you….

      1. Hey! Just because I’m homeless? We have different rules than you housed people do. Like, free stuff at Safeway and bikes that are locked to houses. NIMBY. We’re neighborly too. Visit us at the glory hole at 9th Ave and Leary Way. Tell them Hubcap Willie sent you.

  2. The owner was a caring and thoughtful person but I think the property is controlled now by a trust? Is there any way to get permission to paint a mural on this building? It used to have a nice red wrench on the side until graffiti people tagged it and the rest of the building.
