Police investigate two Crown Hill fires from last weekend

Two fires erupted Saturday in Crown Hill; one at the former Goofy’s Sports Bar and the other next to an encampment along Mary’s Ave NW in the Safeway parking lot.

Seattle Fire responded to an active fire Saturday morning at the closed Goofy’s Sports Bar. The fire was extinguished quickly, and no injuries were reported. Goofy’s closed in November 2021 and will eventually be torn down to make way for a 7-story, 194-unit apartment building.

The other fire was just across the street in the Safeway parking lot and was started by someone lighting a car on fire. Police say no one was injured in the fire, and they’re still investigating who started the fire.

KOMO reports that city outreach teams are planning to visit the Mary’s Ave NW encampment soon, along with trash pickup.

Seattle Fire says they’ve addressed over 400 encampment fires so far in 2022 alone.
