Second-hand clothing pop-up Thread Hunter to open in former Ballard Blossom building

A new second-hand clothing business called Thread Hunter is moving into the former Ballard Blossom building on NW Market St.

Elissa Pemberton and Melissa McLennan started buying and reselling clothing as a side hobby about three years ago. After some success, they launched Thread Hunter as a pop-up, selling at thrift markets and online.

Pemberton and McLennon came across a vacancy in the Ballard Blossom building just last month, which has been hosting pop-up businesses since early last year while the building remains empty. It was originally going to become a boutique hotel, but those plans were scrapped and the building is once again for sale, now for $8.3 million.

The building continues to host pop-up artists and retailers, and will continue to do so until the owners sell.

Thread Hunter will be open this coming weekend from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and for the Ballard Art Walk on Dec. 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
