Live-work and townhome project coming to NW Market St

A new housing development is coming to the corner of 9th Ave NW and NW Market St.

Legacy Group Capital and CONE Architecture are partnering on the development of a live-work and townhome project at 848 NW Market St. The new development will include 5 live-work units, a townhome and three surface parking stalls.

The project will replace an existing two-bedroom home on the corner lot built in 1927.

The new housing project is one of many new developments to spring up on NW Market St in the coming years. Just across the street on 9th, a 6-story, 161-unit apartment is in the works.

Across NW Market St, a 5-story, 229-unit apartment building at 907 NW Market St and a new Ballard Aegis Senior Living center are in the works.

Down the street, a 7-story apartment building is set to replace the Firestone at 1145 NW Market St. The plans include 122 units with ground-level retail. Parking for 70 vehicles is proposed. Just west of 904 NW Market St is the future site of yet another 5-story apartment complex at the current KFC location. The plans include 86 small efficiency dwelling units with no parking proposed.

Planning for the development at 848 NW Market St has just begun, and construction could start as early as Fall 2023.

The developers are currently conducting early outreach, and have created an online survey for nearby residents to share their thoughts.
